Peita Anderson

Peita has worked in the field of Neurological Physiotherapy including acute and subacute rehabilitation for over ten years, and has held the position of Senior Neurological and Stroke Unit Physiotherapist at St Vincent’s Hospital Darlinghurst since 2014.

Peita has spent the last ten years building her rehabilitation skills based on current evidence-based practice and national guidelines. She has a special interest in treating clients with neurological conditions including stroke, functional neurological disorder, traumatic brain injury, neurodegenerative conditions such as MS and Parkinson’s Disease, brain tumours, and chronic pain. She also has extensive experience with a broad variety of patients and medical conditions, including geriatric rehabilitation, post-orthopaedic surgery and spinal surgery.

More recently, Peita has focused on incorporating pilates-based clinical exercise as a form of rehabilitation alongside more traditional functional-task specific rehabilitation. In 2020 she trained with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI) and completed the Pilates Instructor Matwork and Equipment Series, on top of her previous training with DMA Clinical Pilates for Physiotherapists MBCT.

During Peita’s work in the acute Neurological and Stroke Unit, she found a gap in the market for post-acute patients who were unable to access outpatient services due to their physical impairments or reduced supports. Thus, Neuro Balance Physiotherapy was born, a mobile physiotherapy rehabilitation service aimed at improving the quality of life of patients in their own homes and environments.
